Isabella Ellis is a landscape designer, currently living between Boston and London. She got her start in design working at Top Rail Interiors in Saratoga Springs, New York, where she learned how to present to clients and work with contractors. Upon moving to London, she decided to pursue her interest in landscapes professionally and completed the Inchbald School of Design’s Diploma in Garden Design course.

Upon graduation, she moved to Somerset to work for award-winning landscape design firm Urquhart & Hunt whose romantic English countryside landscapes and focus on ecological restoration broadened her understanding of the role of a landscape designer. Following this, she moved to Luciano Giubbilei’s studio in London where she worked on both domestic and international projects.  Working on a range of gardens across different climates expanded both her plant knowledge and skills in searching for local materials to compliment the local vernacular.

Her designs bridge the gap between the home and wider landscape, enhancing her clients’ outside space and making the garden both useful and manageable. A clear understanding of the maintenance a garden will receive informs designs so that clients can enjoy the full potential of their spaces.
